Description |
The event took place in Palermo in December 1996, in the area in front of the Arab-Norman monument of the Zisa.
The art installation is placed in front of the Hall of the Fountains and is composed of 15 ethnic figures. It represents the projection of a world ruled by the ideal of brotherhood and peace among all peoples of the earth, with no room for conflict, racial hatred and rancor.
The figures are free to move and so they dance rising upwards; each of them evokes a specific ethnic image and the adherence to the respective religion. St. Francis is the central figure of the installation, as he – through his story, way of life and relationship with nature - expresses the ideal of tolerance and peace, and communicates with all the men of the earth, who love him for his universal values.
All around, figures representing Buddhist Muslim Jewish and other religions hang around dancing: the event went on for two weeks thanks to the participation of many people of all religions, who have given value to the meetings, the debates and the exhibitions organised in the place. A way to freely express the culture of every population of the world, and with a desire to build a better society. |
