The 19th century complex of the former Lolli station is located in the heart of Palermo, near the Politeama Square and adjacent to the Via Dante, one of the main road axes of the city.
The main building of the complex consists of a two storey central building sided by with one storey building. The ceilings of the rooms are decorated with wall paintings.
Since the railway station closure in 1974, the entire structure has been neglected, hence the decision the Regional Cultural Heritage to create here a “Museum of Locomotion".
The project involves the restoration of the existing buildings to house the "Museum of Locomotion" and the related services. In particular, the museum includes the following functions:

• Museum of Sicilian Railways

• Video library and art bookshop

• Coffee shop

• Restaurant

• Auditorium with 450 seats

• Retail activities

• Restoration workshop

• Outdoor music venues

• Exhibition of vintage carriages (29 carriages from 19th century, part of the collection owned by the Regional Cultural Heritage)

• Modern art gallery

• Planetarium

• Facilities for educational activities
