Regeneration of the Maritime Village and the stretch of coast " Mura di Tramontana", which borders the north side of Trapani’s historic centre(Trapani, Italy) | |||||||
Description | The project involves the stretch of coast that revolves around the Fish Market area, the Imperial Bastion and the Tramontana coast. The primary objective is to regenerate and protect the coastal strip along which the ancient Spanish walls rise and the oldest urban fabric, in order to promote in the short term a restoration and recovery plan for the 16th century walls, also to ensure the stability of the walls and in turn the stability of the whole building complex above the walls. Among the benefits brought about by the projects, a significant one is the replacement of the 19th century breakwaters with a new defence system consisting of submerged barriers at a greater distance from the coast; this allowed the environmental restoration of the coast, so that after a very long time the urban is once again available to the public. |
